Check Out the Refreshing Changes to Downtown Wausau
The Get Downtown. It's Refreshing!
The anticipated Foundry on 3rd is currently taking shape where the aging Wausau Center Mall once stood. In 2021, the mall was demolished to create space for much-needed urbanization, including the development of affordable housing and high-quality retail space. HOM Furniture and the JCPenney building remain, along with two parking ramps.
The Foundry on 3rd joins other exciting developments in downtown Wausau, including the opening of Children’s Imaginarium in 2023, Aspirus Family Physicians in 2022 and Woodson YMCA with major renovation in 2019. Meanwhile, the award-winning Wausau River District has evolved as a popular destination for entertainment, arts, business and residential.
